ALFRED, Maine (AP) — A Maine man convicted of killing his wife after a night of heavy drug use is scheduled to be sentenced.
Prosecutors tell WMTW-TV ( ) they will ask for 25 years to life behind bars when Patrick Dapolito is sentenced Friday in York County Superior Court.
The 41-year-old Dapolito was convicted in February of fatally shooting his wife, Kelly Winslow, in their Limington home in March 2010.
He at first said he accidentally shot his wife after a night of drug use in their home. He later changed his story, saying she was killed by drug dealers the couple was associated with.
Prosecutors have described the killing as domestic violence, saying Dapolito killed his wife after learning that she wanted to leave him.
