GROVE CITY, Ohio --
A man is in custody after, police said, he stabbed and killed his ex-wife while their children were nearby.
According to Grove City police Capt. Jeff Pearson, a 911 call was placed shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday regarding a woman being stabbed on the 3200 block of Townhouse Drive in Grove City.
Police arriving on the scene found 36-year-old Candice R. Roberts, of Grove City, on the ground outside the front door of an apartment.
Jackson Township medics pronounced Roberts dead at the scene from apparent stab wounds, according to Grove City police.
Her ex-husband, 38-year-old Jeremy A. Roberts, of Grove City was taken into custody. Police said he will be charged with murder in connection with the death of his ex-wife.
Pearson said that Candice was at the apartment to pick up her two children, ages 13 and 4, from her ex-husband’s apartment where they had just spent the night.
The 16-year-old daughter of Candice and Jeremy Roberts said her parents had a decent relationship after the divorce and did not fight, even attending her 4-year-old sister's soccer games together.
According to the teenage daughter, her 13-year-old brother is horrified by the event. The boy told his sister that Candice came to the door to pick up the children, but Jeremy said he had to change their 4-year-old daughter's clothes upstairs.
The 13-year-old son apparently said his father returned downstairs with a knife and attacked his mother, who ran into the courtyard.
Neighbors said Jeremy had a large knife and covered his ex-wife's body with a sheet.
The couple's son called 911, telling dispatchers what his father had allegedly done.
Jeremy is set to appear in court Monday morning.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
