Marysville, KS: Woman gets 15 years in husband's death

A Marysville woman was sentenced Tuesday to almost 15 years in prison for crimes related to the death of her husband, according to a release from Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

Amanda Baynton, 25, pleaded no contest to second-degree intentional murder and aggravated assault resulting in the death of her husband, Derek Bjorn Baynton. Marshall County District Court Judge John L. Weingart sentenced her to 178 months for the crimes, which occurred June 8.

Assistant attorney general Amy Hanley and Marshall County Attorney Laura Johnson-McNish prosecuted the case. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, with the assistance of the Marysville and Blue Rapids police departments, investigated.
