Alice Police are investigating a triple homicide in Jim Wells County. A domestic dispute leaves three people dead after an Alice man allegedly goes on a stabbing rampage. Alice Police say that man killed his older common-law-wife and her two sons. One of those sons was wheelchair bound. The stabbings happened early Friday morning and spanned numerous properties. Alice Police Chief Daniel Bueno calling this a sad day in Alice.
"We are saddened to hear and to see and to investigate this type of criminal behavior in our community, but I can assure the citizens of Alice that we do have a safe community and the Alice Police Department will do everything and anything to protect our citizens," says Chief Bueno.
Investigators were all over the scene of the stabbings Friday. Including the Texas Rangers and lab technicians from Laredo and Corpus Christi. Alice police were called to the 600 block of St. Joseph Street around 3:30 AM Friday morning. The call came in as a report of a young man in the front yard who was on the ground.
Police found the man, Ivan Joshua Hughes, 20, who had been stabbed multiple times. Ivan was found between a yellow home and a nearby trailer. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The gruesome discoveries did not stop there, as police continued to investigate the crime scene.
"The officers followed a blood trail also at the 600 block of St. Joseph Street and in doing so, they went to a residence and discovered a young man by the name of William Bryan Hughes, age 15," said Chief Bueno.
Police found the 15-year old boy dead inside the house, the victim of multiple stab wounds. Investigators continued to canvas the area.
"They went to a house next to the 647th block of St. Joseph, to see if anyone had heard or seen anything and in doing so, the officers discovered the body of Michelle Hughes, age 41," says Chief Bueno.
Michelle Hughes, the mother of the other two stab victims was found dead on the sidewalk and porch.
Within hours, police made an arrest. Around 9:30 AM Friday morning, officers arresting Felix Jesus Chapa, 24. Chapa was handcuffed, finger-printed and transported to the Jim Wells County Jail.
Chapa was arrested without incident at his home on College Street. Chapa has been charged with 3 counts of Capital Murder. Bond has been set at $2.25 Million.
