LOGAN — Investigators believe a 48-year-old township man shot and critically injures his girlfriend early this morning and then turned the gun on himself.
Thomas Gillespie has died and his 47-year-old girlfriend, who was shot in the head, is in critical but stable condition at Crozer Chester Medical Center, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities believe the incident occurred just after 2 a.m. after Gillespie arrived at his home in the 100 block of Barker Avenue in Logan. Authorities said the pair had been in a dating relationship for about three years.
The woman was home with her two children at the time.
Police first received a call from the home about a domestic disturbance at around 1:49 a.m., according to the prosecutor’s office.
Responding officers found the man and woman laying the family room of the two-story home, authorities said. The woman’s daughters, ages 10 and 13, were found unharmed upstairs in the house. They girls are now with their biological father.
