AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Preliminary autopsy results indicate a physician shot and killed his wife then committed suicide, police said.
It was Tuesday afternoon when police found the bodies of Dr. Henry Gail Norrid, 71, and his wife Carolyn Ann Norrid, 53. Police went to the home in the 3400 block of Concord after an acquaintance had not heard from the couple in several days.
Police were able to break into the back door. Inside a bedroom, police said they found the couple deceased. The weapon that was believed to be used was recovered in the same bedroom, police said.
The preliminary autopsy results, according to police, indicate that Mrs. Norrid died of multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body.
Police said they initially believed Dr. Norrid may have shot himself. The autopsy results, however, indicate Dr. Norrid committed suicide by other means.
Toxicology results are still pending, police said.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
