A College Station mother who was shot to death on New Year's Day has been laid to rest.
On Saturday family and friends of 21-year-old Whitney Paskey-Pullen paid their final respects.
Paskey-Pullen was shot and killed allegedly at the hands of her ex-boyfriend.
It was a life that touched many hearts.
Whitney Paskey-Pullen was remembered by people from all walks of life at S.O.S. Ministries in Bryan.
"I just want to say that we need to forgive the person that did this," said Holly Paskey, Whitney's mother.
Holly Paskey is still searching for answers. Whitney's ex-boyfriend 22-year-old Kenneth Connor remains jailed charged with criminal negligent homicide.
Police are still investigating whether the shooting was an accident.
"And if there was an accomplice any other people involved we need to pray for their family and not harbor hatred in our heart," added Paskey.
Pastor Henry Sanders recalled her faith and friendliness when she was part of the children's ministry at Faith Outreach Christian Center in Navasota.
"She had a real heart for people she loved to minister to people and she made a commitment, her life to Christ as a young child and she went on from there and had a lot of things going on in her life," Sanders said.
S.O.S. Ministries President J.J. Ramirez knew Whitney from an early age too when her family would help him with worship. He wishes he could have had more time to see her.
"My heart is heavy but at the same time grateful I know where she's at I know who she is and we're just gonna miss that great smile that she had," he said.
Her mother sang a song of worship in her memory and also shared a message of faith in Christ.
"Dealing with the issues of CPS not allowing us to even see the children… We need your prayers... She always lit up the room when she came in and she always tried to make everybody feel better. I mean if she had $5 worth of gas and you needed to go somewhere she would take you," said Holly Paskey.
A young woman who friends and family say is looking down at them from Heaven now.
A benefit to help pay for expenses has been set up in Whitney Paskey-Pullen's name at any Prosperity Bank Branch.
She did not have life insurance.
Kenneth Connor remains jailed on $100,000 bond.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
