Cocoa, FL: Cocoa woman found dead

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A Brevard County woman was found dead inside a home on Cambridge Drive Friday morning, said the Cocoa Police Department.

The woman was identified as 40-year-old Glenda Glennette Lewis.

Police said Lewis' boyfriend was in the room sleeping on the couch when her daughter found Lewis unresponsive and called 911.

Police said that when they arrived Lewis was not breathing. Officers arrested her boyfriend, 36-year-old Calvin Lamal Williams.

Cocoa police said the couple had a history of domestic violence, and they have been called to the home several times.

Witnesses told police that Lewis kicked Williams out of the home in October.

Investigators said Lewis had a restraining order against Williams at one time, but at Lewis’ request, the injunction was rescinded Dec. 14.

"She did throw him out in October because of the ongoing violence, but had the domestic violence injunction rescinded and he spent the night last night," said Barbara Matthews of the Cocoa Police Department.

WFTV learned Williams was arrested last year in Palm Bay for domestic violence issues with another woman.

Police said Williams is being held on a warrant for violation of probation on burglary and stalking charges as the investigation continues.

Investigators said an autopsy will be performed on Lewis to determine how she died.
