A Dallas-area man fatally shot his estranged girlfriend before turning the gun on himself Friday in a northeast Harris County field, authorities said.
A caller spotted what appeared to be an abandoned car about 1 p.m. behind a subdivision along the 15100 block of Silhouette Ridge at John Ralston, Harris County sheriff's deputies said.
Sheriff's deputies found a man and a woman inside a late model Chevrolet Camaro. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Their identities have not been confirmed, but Harris County sheriff's deputies said the man appeared to have lived in the Dallas-area suburb of DeSoto.
The man picked up the woman at her home in east Harris County then drove in her car to the field behind the subdivision, where both were later found dead, deputies said.
Later Friday, sheriff's officials did not have further details about the man and woman or their relationship.
The case remains under investigation, deputies said.
