WHITEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say a man shot his estranged wife to death in a hospital parking lot in Whiteville just minutes after she visited her sick mother.
Investigators said Elijah Jones also shot his estranged wife's new boyfriend outside Columbus Regional Healthcare around 7 a.m. Friday morning, but he is expected to survive.
Authorities say Jones then turned himself in to a nearby police officer.
Police say Jones had threatened his estranged wife before. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
Hospital officials say no one inside the facility was ever in danger.
