(FARMINGTON HILLS) - Two cars parked in the driveway was the first sign of trouble.
Friends of the couple who lived at the home on Orion Court called police to say they were worried something bad had happened.
Police forced their way in and found the 53 year-old man dead in one room and the 52 year-old woman dead in another.
Both were shot in the head.
They say it appears to be a murder-suicide, carried out by the woman.
Next to her body was a handgun and a letter that had been placed in her waistband. The contents of that note have been released. The couple's names are also being withheld until family members can be notified.
The husband's car was parked in the driveway, packed with clothes and other belongings.
Police say he had just moved out, and the couple was divorcing. The shooting took place when the husband stopped by for a meeting.
In addition to marital problems, police say the couple had a failed business and were in major financial trouble.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
