Cabool, MO— A Cabool man is on the run after police said he shot his wife five times, killing her.
Law enforcement officials are looking for 54-year-old Daniel Wade Chapman after his wife Sandra was found dead.
Authorities said at 8:22 Thursday night, witnesses reported hearing arguing and shots fired inside the Sinclair gas station the couple owned located on Business U.S. 60.
When police arrived, the woman was found dead on the floor. Insiders at the Cabool Police Department told KSPR News Sandra Chapman was shot 4 times in the midsection with a handgun and fatally hit once in the heart.
Friday, friends and family used the crime scene as an impromptu memorial for the one they lost.
"It kind of floored me," said Rebecca Wilson, who used to work with the victim. "Dan was a sweet guy, he was always smiling at the employees. He always took time to talk with you if you needed to talk, if you needed anything."
Police are looking in multiple states including Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri. Sources said the most credible lead came Friday afternoon at 12:22 from a cell phone tower in Oklahoma.
"We feel like he is armed and dangerous, based on the information we've received," said Cabool Police Chief Lynn Jones. "It might be necessary to take precaution if you run across him."
While the manhunt for Chapman spans state lines, many back home in Cabool mourned a life lost.
"Sad for Sandy, sad for Danny. Especially the kids. It was bad," explained Wilson. "Something like that doesn't happen in little towns like this and if it does, it takes people a long time to get over it."
Daniel Wade Chapman born November 14, 1956 is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He was last seen driving a white 2010 Ford F-150 4 Door Crew Cab with Missouri license 0UM-214.
Friday, Chapman was charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action. There is a $5 million dollar bond.
If you have any information about his whereabouts, contact the Cabool Police Department (417) 962-3993, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Texas County Sheriff's Department (417) 967-4165, or your local police agency.
Sandra Chapman is survived by two daughters.
