A West Deptford woman who allegedly fled the scene of an accident that resulted in her husband’s death last October was indicted this week by a Gloucester County grand jury on charges related to that incident.
Faithe L. Kirby, 39, was indicted on charges of second degree leaving the scene of a fatal accident, third degree endangering an injured person and third degree involvement in a fatal accident while driving with a suspended license.
Kirby and her husband, Barry Epstein, 40, were allegedly involved in a domestic dispute when Epstein leaped on to the hood of the 2003 Dodge van Kirby was driving away from their home at 7:52 a.m. on Oct. 24 of last year.
Police said Epstein fell from the hood and struck his head as Kirby took off, and the county medical examiner’s office said his injuries were consistent with a fall from a slow-moving vehicle. Police said Kirby was going between 10 and 20 miles per hour when her husband fell.
Epstein died about 45 minutes after the accident at Underwood-Memorial Hospital in Woodbury. Kirby turned herself into police around 8:45 a.m., not long after Epstein died in the hospital.
Kirby and Epstein had been married since 2004 and had two children together.
