Nanticoke, PA: Trial ordered for NE Pa. woman in boyfriend's stabbing death in November

NANTICOKE, Pa. — A northeastern Pennsylvania woman has been ordered to stand trial in the stabbing death of her boyfriend last fall.

Authorities in Luzerne County allege that 42-year-old Sherry Ann Cease stabbed 59-year-old John Wolfe during a Nov. 30 argument in his Plymouth Township home.

Police said he fled to a neighbor's house and was later pronounced dead at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center

After a preliminary hearing Tuesday, a judge ordered Cease to stand trial on charges of third-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.

Defense attorney Demetrius Fannick said his client was defending herself after she was choked during a domestic dispute. He says "at best" it was a "heat-of-passion situation."

But prosecutors say the evidence does not support the defense version of events.
