BELLAIRE, Ohio -- Jeffrey Piorkowski, 18, of North Royalton, Ohio, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by Summit county Judge Paul Gallagher Monday for Involuntary Manslaughter, Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Felonious Assault of a Police Officer, Failure to Comply and OVI. Amanda Rosepapa, 22, of Bellaire, Ohio, was struck and killed.
Back on August 21, 2010, a news release states that at 2 a.m., Piorkowski, who was 17 years old at the time, fled from police while arguing with his girlfriend and driving with no headlights. That’s when officials claim he drove his car at a high rate of speed into an area with numerous police officers and others standing following the breaking up of a University of Akron party.
Rosepapa was on campus at the time visiting friends.
Officials claim Piorkowsk’s blood alcohol level was .127, more than the legal limit.
Evidence indicated that Piorkowski was driving in a road rage and threatening to hurt himself and his girlfriend.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
