Cumberland County, PA: UPDATE (12): Cumberland County double murder - suicide

UPDATE:

Investigators say it happened at a house on Brookridge Drive in Hampden Township around 1:40 Wednesday morning. Cops showed up and found Paul Johnson, 34, and Wendy Royer, 36, Camp Hill dead.

Early Wednesday morning, as police took away two bodies, investigators collected several shell casings inside the kitchen of the Hampden Township home.

"The vast majority of that house was undisturbed, the scene of extreme violence was in the kitchen area where the bodies were found," said Cumberland County DA Dave Freed.

The shell casings may have come, from a high powered rifle that Robert Liddick, 41, used to kill the mother of his child, Royer and the homeowner Johnson. Police say after the killings, Liddick went to the Summerdale Diner off routes 11/15 and called police, telling them there was an unattended child at that home.

Police showed up and found the child unharmed. They also saw a man and woman in the kitchen shot to death.

"I’m kind of surprised. It's very rare that we have any kind of activity in this neighborhood," said neighbor Bob Dunn.

More than nine hours after the shooting, police were still searching for Liddick. But then, just after 11 Wednesday morning, as the Cumberland DA updated media, he got a call that a truck matching Liddick's, had been found off Enola Road in East Pennsboro Township.

The truck was near the Susquehanna River and a body was in a creek. "There was also evidence in the form of a note and close to the area along with a high powered rifle, that would appear to have been used in the killings early this morning," said Cumberland County DA Dave Freed.

Investigators have confirmed that the body found in the creek was that of Liddick. His death is the result of a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.

DA Freed says that right now, he's unsure of the status of any of the relationships. But neighbors say the two victims were boyfriend/girlfriend.

Autopsies will be done in the next few days.
