ST. JOSEPH, MO. • Authorities in western Missouri say a man suspected of killing his wife in St. Joseph, Mo., has died following a chase and shootout about 100 miles away.
But it was not clear Wednesday night whether the man killed himself or was shot by law enforcement officers in a shootout along U.S. Highway 65 south of Marshall.
Police told the St. Joseph News-Press that Amanda Arnold, 27, was killed Wednesday afternoon in an apparent domestic dispute. Police began looking for a pickup belonging to the husband, Ty Arnold, 28.
About 4 p.m., authorities in Lafayette County reported a dark blue pickup heading east on Interstate 70, about 50 miles east of Kansas City. Other officers picked up the chase and followed the truck north on Highway 65, where the shootout took place.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
