Ann Arbor, MI: Police identify man who shot ex-wife, killed himself in Ann Arbor park

The man who shot his former wife early Saturday morning in Ann Arbor's Dolph Park Nature area and then killed himself is Marlow Demon Long of Dundee, Ann Arbor police said today.

Police said Long, 37, shot his ex-wife, Katrina Long, 33, of Ann Arbor, early Saturday morning after forcing her at gunpoint to drive around for several hours. She was wounded in the neck and shoulder area and has been released from the University of Michigan Hospital, said Ann Arbor police Detective Sgt. Pat Hughes.

Police said the two agreed to meet in the Canton area about 8 p.m. Friday. At some point, Long produced a gun and forced his former wife to drive around for several hours.

Sometime after midnight they stopped at the Dolph Park Nature Area in Ann Arbor. Shortly after 1 a.m., while they were sitting in the car Long shot her in the neck and shoulder area. She was able to get out of the vehicle and get the attention of two people who were entering the park. She got in their car and they drove her out of the park and called 911.

Long then turned the gun on himself, Hughes said. Police found him at the park, and he was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
