HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Homicide detectives were called to the scene of an apparent murder-suicide in southwest Houston.
The bodies were discovered at a home in the 5700 block Munson Lane about 5:30am. Willie Mae Pakoejoe, 60, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. A male, identified as her husband, Herman Lawrence Pakoejoe, 56, suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and was also pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the Pakoejoes lived at the home with their granddaughter. Their granddaughter was awakened by gunshots and found both her grandparents deceased on the floor of their bedroom. She notified family members living nearby, who then called 911.
Information at the scene leads investigators to believe that Herman Pakoejoe shot his wife and then himself.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
