Man arrested after wife's shooting death in NE Harris

A northeast Harris County man has been arrested after he apparently killed his wife and stuffed her in a closet at the couple's home in far east Harris County late Monday night, authorities said.

Harris County Sheriff's Office homicide investigators said that Noah Collins, 37, admitted that he fatally shot wife Goerta Collins some time before 9:45 p.m. Monday at their home in the 13200 block of Cliff Drive in Barrett Station.

Murder charges are pending against Collins, who called 911 after the shooting.

When investigators arrived at the Collins' home, they found Goerta Collins' body in a bedroom closet. She had been shot several times.

A handgun and a small amount of narcotics also were found in the home.

Collins admitting to investigators that he had to shot his wife, the sheriff's department said. He was arrested without incident.

Detectives are still trying to determine what led to the shooting.
