SOUTHINGTON, Conn. - A man and woman were killed Saturday in Connecticut in what police said was an apparent murder-suicide following a domestic dispute, the Hartford Courant reported.
Police in Southington, Conn., 18 miles (28 kilometers) southwest of Hartford, received multiple 911 calls at around 10:30am Saturday about a woman being shot in the driveway of a home.
The male shooter reportedly fled the scene and ran into a wooded area near the home. Witnesses reported hearing one or two shots fired after he ran away.
When police arrived on the scene they found 37-year-old Saudina Mehovic in the driveway of the home suffering from both stab wounds and gunshot wounds.
She was taken to a local hospital, where she died later.
Police later found the man, 48-year-old Nurija Mehovic -- Saudina Mehovic's ex-husband -- in the wooded area with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the same hospital as his ex-wife, where he later died.
The former couple had two sons, aged 14 and 16, who were home at the time of the incident, police said.
