Rochester police today released the names of a couple found dead in their southeast Rochester apartment over the weekend.
The couple’s adult son found his mother, Yonhwa Kim, 47, who had been fatally stabbed in her torso, in the living room of the upstairs apartment, said Rochester Police Officer Stephen Scott.
Wonkyung Seo, 53, was found dead in the attic, according to police. He had apparently hanged himself, Scott said.
The couple’s son, who also lives in the residence, had returned home from work about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, and found his parents dead, Scott said.
Seo and Kim were domestic partners, but it was not immediately clear whether they were married, Scott said.
Investigators will not label the case a murder-suicide until the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office finishes the autopsies, which is expected later today, Scott said.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
