A man has been arrested on charges he killed his wife in Reno during a fight on Christmas Day.

Reno police said Salvador Rico-Rivas, 28, was booked into the Washoe County jail on Saturday on charges of murder with the use of a deadly weapon, domestic battery and violation of a restraining order. Rico-Rivas is being held without bail.

Police said they went to a home in the 2600 block of Dyer Way in Reno about 9 a.m. on Christmas and saw Rico-Rivas and Marisol Galindo-Rico, 26, unresponsive on the floor. They forced their way into the home. Both were taken to the hospital and Galindo-Rico died.

Rico-Rivas was originally in critical condition at the hospital, but his condition improved to where he was released Saturday and police arrested him.

Detectives are continuing their investigation. They ask anyone with additional information to call detectives at 334-2188 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
