A 35-year-old woman has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at a Newington motel.
Police say Alanna Carey of Glastonbury was the girlfriend of the man who died Monday night after the shooting inside a motel room on the Berlin Turnpike.
WFSB-TV reports Carey was found at the scene and arrested on a murder charge after a police investigation. She is being held on $1 million bail ahead of her arraignment at Superior Court in New Britain.
Police were called to the Carrier Motor Lodge around 10:15 p.m. to investigate reports of shots fired and found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.
The man was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital. His identity was not released pending notification of his family.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
