COURTHOUSE — A 24-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested Friday for allegedly murdering his ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend in Cheltenham on Christmas Day, according to the Montgomery County district attorney’s office. A second suspect was apprehended and arrested Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting.
Rayshon Carwheel is accused of shooting and killing 25-year-old Robens Borno as he wrapped gifts at 1:55 a.m. Dec. 25 at his Elkins Park home in the 1400 block of Beech Avenue. A 21-year-old Philadelphia man, Ezra Childs, Carwheel’s alleged co-conspirator who acted as a lookout during the homicide, is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and a firearm offense. Carwheel’s former girlfriend, who is the mother of his child, broke up with him in early December, and she became involved with Borno, according to prosecutors. Shortly before the shooting, Borno, his girlfriend and her mother were sitting at the dining room table wrapping gifts when Carwheel and Childs appeared in the room with guns. Borno was shot multiple times in the torso, and he later died at Einstein Hospital. Carwell is being held in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail. Childs was scheduled to be arraigned late Tuesday afternoon. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Samantha Cauffman and Alec O’Neill. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Carwheel on Jan. 9 at 10 a.m. before District Judge Christopher J. Cerski in Elkins Park at 8230 Old York Road.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
