YARNELL, Ariz. (AP) — A Yarnell woman has been shot and killed after a Yavapai County Sheriff's Office deputy responds to domestic violence call Sunday night southwest of Prescott.
Inside a residence, a deputy tried to subdue the 51-year-old woman. The sheriff's office says the woman lunged at a deputy with a knife. As a result, the deputy fired his weapon killing the woman.
The Department of Public Safety Officer Involved Shooting Team was notified and will assume primary investigative duties into the circumstances and deputy's actions.
The deputy was placed on routine administrative leave.

(NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
