TALLAHASSEE -- A Bradenton woman was charged Monday in the death of an All-American basketball player at Florida A&M University.
Starquineshia Palmer, 20, is charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Shannon Washington, a shooting guard who was recognized twice as an All-American before she transferred this year to Florida A&M University, ESPN.com reported Sunday.
Derek Friend, public information officer for the Tallahassee Police Department, confirmed Monday night that Palmer’s last known address was Bradenton. Manatee County court records show that Palmer lived at the Treesdale Condominiums at 1818 Ninth Ave. E. as recently as January 2011.

Palmer was staying with Washington over the weekend. According to the Tallahassee Democrat, the two were involved in a domestic relationship and became embroiled in an argument around 2 a.m. Sunday. Washington was stabbed in the back and neck and died later at a nearby hospital, the Democrat reported.
Washington is a former star player for Sarasota’s Riverview High School. She earned her All-American honors during two seasons at Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, Ill.
Palmer remained in the Leon County jail with no bail Monday.
A memorial service was held Monday for Washington with students and coaches from the school attending, according to the Democrat. Overcome by emotion, Florida A&M women’s basketball coach LeDawn Gibson’s words were barely audible as she tried to share memories of Washington, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.
