COTTONWOOD, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities have released the identity of a woman who authorities say was killed by her boyfriend in Cottonwood.
Yavapai County sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn identified the woman as 23-year-old Xiaorong (sho-WRONG') Wang.
Her boyfriend, 23-year-old Michael Antonio Piccioli, is being held on a $1 million bond at the Camp Verde Detention Center. He faces a second-degree murder charge.
Deputies responded to a disturbance call at a Cottonwood home Thursday. They say Piccioli told them that his girlfriend had been shot inside.
D'Evelyn says the two had been arguing when the woman was shot in the upper body. She was declared dead at the scene.
Piccioli is scheduled to appear in court Thursday. Records show he has a public defender, though that office says the exact attorney hasn't been decided.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
