Police: Suspect Arrested for Strangling Girlfriend with Cell Phone Cord

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A suspect has been named in the murder of a woman at Stonewood Apartments.

Officials say Williams' boyfriend, Adnan Almayahi, strangled her to death using a cell phone cord. They say Williams had been dead for two days, and appeared to have been involved in a struggle.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant for Almayahi. The Sheriff's Office requested help from the United States Marshals Service, Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force (FRFTF).

After investigating, officials say Almayahi had fled to the Dearborn/Detroit area. On Tuesday, they found him hiding under the stairs in the basement at a home in the Dearborn/Detroit area.

Almayahi was arrested.

BACKGROUND ON THE MURDER

Saturday, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office were called to Stonewood Apartments on Old Kings Road. When they arrived, Tiffany Nicole Williams, 24, had died.
