WARREN, Mich. - Police have arrested a man they say is shown on a security camera beating his 68-year-old girlfriend with a sledgehammer before stabbing her with an ice pick.
A tip led Warren police to a house in northwest Detroit where they arrested 44-year-oldWilliam Thomas Dunlap. The ex-convict was being sought in the death of Fran Wolf in the office of Fran's Roadhouse, a south Warren bar that Wolf owned and had an apartment they shared.
Dunlap is expected to be arraigned on murder charges Friday in 37th District Court.
Police say Dunlap attacked Wolf before leaving with an undisclosed amount of money. Her two sons discovered her body, covered with a blanket and papers, about 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Chief William Dwyer says Wolf accused Dunlap of beating her in April, but she later refused to testify against him.
