PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A Phoenix man is in jail in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend at their Phoenix home Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Carlos Villareal, 33, shot his girlfriend, Christine Alvarez, 32, in their apartment on 22nd Avenue, while the couple's three kids, ages 3 through 12, were home.
She was taken to the hospital, where she died.
Villareal told police he accidentally shot her in a bedroom.
During the investigation, detectives learned Villareal and Alvarez got in a fight and Villareal shot her.
Villareal has been charged with second-degree murder.
