HOUSTON (June 10, 2012)—A retired firefighter and his wife have been found dead in their Houston home in what may have been a murder suicide.
Police identified the couple as Eugene and Sheila Scott.
Police spokesman John Cannon said officers were sent to the Scott's home after receiving a 911 call before midnight Friday from a man who said he had just killed his wife and then hung up.
The responding officers found the house locked and called in a SWAT team and hostage negotiators.
Unable to contact anyone inside, police sent in a robot with a camera that discovered the bodies in a back bedroom.
Cannon says an autopsy will confirm the cause of death.
Eugene Scott worked as a Houston firefighter for more than 20 years before retiring about two years ago.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
