CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A grand jury in Clarksville has indicted a widow in the 2009 death of her husband — a crime for which the victim's teenage offspring and another teenage boy were earlier charged.
Rebecca Francis Hart was arrested on an indictment returned last week by a Montgomery County grand jury, charging her with five counts of solicitation of first-degree murder, among other charges.
Clarksville businessman Gilbert "Gib" Hart, who was 50 years old, was fatally shot in the family's home in June 2009. Prosecutors describe the crime as a complex murder-for-hire scheme, according to The Leaf-Chronicle (http://bit.ly/nDfPm3).
District Attorney John Carney said Rebecca Hart was arrested over the weekend. It wasn't clear whether she had hired an attorney to represent her.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
