MARION -- Marion police today are investigating what they said appeared to be a murder-suicide that grew out of a domestic incident.
Jonathan D. Elliott, 55, and Kimberly Howell, 46, were dead at their 133 W. Mark St. residence when city fire department paramedics arrived, Maj. Randy Caryer, police operations commander, said, in a news release.
About 11:06 p.m. Friday, police responded to the residence regarding a possible suicide "just occurring," the release states. Upon arriving officers found Elliott in the house with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Officers then found Howell with an apparent gunshot wound to the head on the front porch.
Investigators recovered a handgun from beside Elliott¹s body.
"It is very early in the investigation," Caryer said. Further information will be made available after the investigating officers have more information.

A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
