DAY — State police on Sunday released more details about Friday’s murder-suicide in the town of Day, including the names of the victims.
Robert J. Monacchio, 51, strangled his wife, Cynthia E. Monacchio, 51, at the couple’s 672 Military Road home before taking his own life with a shotgun, police said.
State police responded to the residence at approximately 9:45 p.m. Friday after the bodies were discovered by a family member.
Police are continuing to investigate what led up to the incident, but said autopsy results and evidence at the scene do not indicate that any other individuals are responsible.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
