(KATV) Channel Seven first told you Monday that a woman shot and killed her ex-boyfriend who allegedly abducted her at gun point.
The victim, now identified as Jajuan Legate, 42, told police she was taken from her home on Northfield by Calvin Keith Brown, 49.
Sgt. Todd Crowson says, "As they took off and were coming down Raymar Road she was able to get into her purse where she had a small caliber hand gun and was able to use the handgun. She shot the assailant and was able to escape."
Minutes after Bryant police made it on the scene Brown died.
Legate was then able to escape from the vehicle and run down the road for help.
Witnesses say that Brown was pointing the rifle at her as she ran down the street. The weapon in his possession was a 30.06 rifle that was fully loaded.
During the investigation and interviews, Legate stated that this was not the first time that Brown had threatened her with a gun.
A Pulaski County Police Report shows that on July 27, 2011, Legate was confronted by brown outside her place of employment. He wanted to take her to Pinnacle Mountain for some hiking.
Legate stated that she got into Brown's vehicle. As they arrived at Pinnacle Mountain, Legate realized that she had the wrong shoes for hiking and asked Brown to take her back to her vehicle. She said that as they drove back, Brown stopped the car on Barrett Road and got out and went to the trunk of the car.
When he returned, he had in his hands a roll of duct tape and a black revolver. She said that Brown held the gun to her head and told her not to move because he was going to kill her and then himself. Legate said she began to talk to Brown in order to calm him down.
Legate was able to finally get him to put the gun down. She also was able to talk him in to returning her to her vehicle at which time she was able to talk him in to giving her the gun and duct tape.
Legate said that she pretended to go home while Brown followed her. That is when she called 911 from her phone. According to Legate she was stopped at a red light at McKinley Street and University. She noticed Brown getting out of his vehicle and coming towards her.
She then sped off and made contact with Little Rock Officers at a Shell Station on Markham. Pulaski County Deputies arrived on scene and were able to take control of the weapon and duct tape. Legate has been in fear that Brown would return and try this again. On August 8, 2011, her fears came true.
The investigation of the shooting is still on going at this time. All information and reports will be placed in a case file and given to the Saline County Prosecutors Office for review.
