A woman was shot and killed on an Oak Cliff street Friday morning, and police suspect her ex-husband was the gunman.
The shooting happened shortly after 7 a.m. at Cockrell Hill Road and Illinois Avenue where the man and woman got into an argument in a car.
The victim jumped out at a bus stop, and her ex-husband followed and shot her, homicide Lt. David Pughes said. He said the shooting was witnessed by more than a dozen people on two DART buses.
Police said the suspect left the car in gear when he jumped out, and it rolled into a taco shop down the street, damaging the business.
The suspect abandoned the car and fled on foot before carjacking another vehicle and driving to his home about a mile away.
Officers have surrounded the home in the 5200 block of Tato Road, near Loop 12 and Illinois.
Neither the victim nor the suspect had been identified.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
