DALLAS — Dallas police say a domestic dispute has left a woman and her estranged husband dead after he shot her on a street, then took his own life at home.
A police statement identified the woman as Martha Elena Garcia and her husband as Jalmar (HAL'-mar) Garcia. Police say the pair recently separated.
Lt. David Pughes says the two were arguing in a vehicle Friday when she tried to flee on foot. Pughes says the fatal shooting happened near a bus stop and some passengers witnessed the attack.
Police say the man, whose own vehicle had been left in gear and rolled away, carjacked another vehicle and drove home, where he barricaded himself. A gunshot was heard from inside the home as
officers arrived. Police entered and found the man dead.
