BAYTOWN, Texas — An ex-boyfriend of the mother of one of two slain Baytown girls has been arrested over the deaths of the cousins.
Joseph Jean was in the Harris County Jail on Thursday without bail on a capital murder charge, plus on a parole revocation motion. Electronic records had no listing for an attorney for Jean.
Baytown police Lt. Eric Freed says Jean and Victoria Wiley had argued hours before the bodies of 17-year-old Chelsey Lang and 16-year-old Ashley Johnson were found in a burned house Sunday.
Wiley is Lang's mother.
Autopsy results indicate the teens had blunt force trauma to the head. Lang also suffered from smoke inhalation.
Freed says Jean was on parole for assaulting Wiley and was supposed to stay away from her, but police say the pair had a confrontation at a Houston bar.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
