Pueblo, Colo. -- A Pueblo man shoots his girlfriend then kills himself.
Pueblo Police said 29-year-old Matt Moreland shot his girlfriend, 21-year-old Robyn Harmon, in the face before turning the gun on himself. The shooting happened Saturday in their home on Belmont Avenue, by Lake Minnequa. On Sunday, their home was burglarized, police said.
One neighbor said he still can’t believe everything that has happened.
“Everyone is freaking out about it because they don't expect that out of him, never out of Matt,” said Gino Livingood.
Investigators told KRDO NewsChannel 13 the three had been drinking. They said the roommate found Harmon in a room with a gun crying, and ran to tell Moreland.
Police said Moreland and Harmon then went into a room and he shot her. The roommate took Harmon out of the room, then Moreland went back in and shot himself, police said.
Harmon survived the shooting. She is recovering at Parkview Medical Center. Police said the couple lived in the home with one other person.
“There is some speculation that he didn't know there was any rounds in the chamber,” said Sgt. Eric Bravo.
After the shooting, the home was burglarized the next day.
"As soon as they went to the hospital, somebody broke in their trailer and took their TV. Why would you do that to a person?” said Livingood.
Harmon is expected to be out of the hospital soon.
