A Trenton man has been indicted for first-degree murder in the strangulation death of his girlfriend.
Gary “Andy” Andrew Sullivan, 34, of 6430 NW 170th St. was arrested in mid-April and charged with murdering Summer Lynn Keller, 31.
The Levy County Sheriff’s Office said Sullivan called deputies on April 8 to report finding his girlfriend hanging from a tree after the couple had argued.
In a news release about Keller’s death, the Sheriff’s Office said statements from witnesses, inconsistent statements by Sullivan and evidence, including an autopsy report, did not support Sullivan’s version of events. Although Sullivan was indicted for the strangulation death of Keller, officials, including State Attorney Bill Cervone, have not said how she was strangled. Investigators previously said the instrument used to hang Keller was not the cause of her death.
Cervone also said he would not seek the death penalty in the case.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
