LOS ANGELES (BNO NEWS) -- Los Angeles homicide bureau detectives on Sunday said that a man killed his twin children and their mother on late Saturday evening before turning the gun on himself.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the murder-suicide happened somewhere in Los Angeles when the suspect, his girlfriend, and five children were driving in a vehicle. While in the vehicle, the suspect and his girlfriend became involved in a domestic dispute.

Officials said 45-year-old Salvador Acevedo produced a handgun during the dispute and shot his 33-year-old girlfriend, Iris Oseguera, before firing at his 6-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter. "The boy and girl were twins," Sgt. Harry Drucker said.

Three adolescent children were also in the vehicle but were not harmed, according to Deputy Lillian Peck. "Acevedo dropped the adolescent children off at a relative's home and drove away," she said. "The children told an adult about the incident and they alerted East Los Angeles Sheriff's Station."

Peck said deputies later located Acevedo's vehicle in the 1100 block of South Hicks Avenue in East Los Angeles. "There, deputies discovered Acevedo suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound and the three injured victims inside of the vehicle," she said.

Acevedo and Oseguera were pronounced dead at the scene, while their twin children were transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
