A Near-Eastside stabbing ended in the death of a woman, the arrest of the woman's husband and a stab wound to their 16-year-old daughter.
Police went to a residence in the 1200 block of Evison Street around 3 p.m. Sunday and found that three people had been stabbed. Kenneth Schaefer, 56, was sent to Wishard Memorial Hospital in serious condition. His wife of 23 years, Bobbie J. Schaefer, 41, was declared dead at the scene.
The couple's children were at home when the stabbings happened, and the 16-year-old daughter suffered what police called a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper left arm. Investigators did not say what led to the girl being stabbed. A second girl was not injured.
Investigators said there had been a domestic dispute in the house that led to the stabbing, apparently involving the man and the woman. Kenneth Schaefer was arrested on preliminary murder charges at the hospital.
Police did not immediately say what led to the argument and the stabbing.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
