Georgetown (KXAN) - A man police said shot and killed his wife and her parents died running away from police Sunday night.

Williamson County Deputies tell KXAN that the wife was in the process of divorcing her husband and had moved in with her parents in Georgetown.

The first 911 call came in at 10:30 p.m. just West of Georgetown city limits at 306 Harbor Drive. Witnesses in the home said the husband shot and killed his wife and parents inside the home.

"This is the first triple homicide that I can remember in many many many years," said Sgt. John Foster, Williamson County Sheriff.

Several other people were inside the home when the shooting happened, including a one year old child. The suspect left the home in a vehicle after the shootings. One witness gave police a description of the car the suspect was driving.

DPS troopers and Round Rock police officers were able to track down the suspect and began a pursuit on Interstate 35. Police set up spike strips to try to stop the driver in the McNeil area. Police said the suspect saw the spikes and rammed into a Round Rock police officers car. The suspect died on impact. The officer was uninjured.

Inside the vehicle DPS troopers discovered the shotgun police say he used in the scene along with several rounds of ammunition.

Police have not released the name of the victims or the suspect.
