COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police in Columbus say a man killed himself after fatally shooting his wife.
Homicide Detective Dana Croom said the couple were having marital problems and had plans to separate. He said police arrived at the home about 6:30 a.m. Saturday. The couple's 22-year-old son, 16-year-old daughter, and 14-year-old son were there. The older son told police his mother and stepfather were shot.
From a preliminary investigation, police concluded that 45-year-old Francis J. Doyle shot 48-year-old Barbara M. Doyle, then turned the gun on himself.
The Columbus Dispatch reported neighbors and relatives said the family seemed fine Friday. Neighbor Jeff Cockerell said Mrs. Doyle was a sweet lady known as a neighborhood caregiver and once brought him a cake when he was injured at work.

We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
