Deputies believe a woman shot her boyfriend in their Shelton home Friday and then shot and killed herself.
Mason County law enforcement was called to the couple's home on Hoodcastle Drive around 4:30 a.m. A witness called 911 after he fled the home to say he'd witnessed a shooting at that location.
On their way to the scene, deputies said the woman called police herself and said she shot her boyfriend.
When officers arrived, they found both the man and woman with gunshot wounds. The 48-year-old man died at the scene, and the 41-year-old woman died being transported to the hospital.
The couple was not married, but involved in a relationship. Their identities have not been released.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
