A house fire Tuesday morning lead to the discovery of an apparent murder-suicide in Salem. Three young children and an adult female were found dead in a fire in the 2800 block of Fisher Rd NE in Salem and an adult male was found deceased in a vehicle in Cottage Grove.
The fire was reported shortly before 5:30 am Tuesday by a neighbor who noticed smoke coming from the residence. Firefighters found the three young children and the woman inside. Evidence indicated that the victims died as a result of homicidal violence and firefighters requested the Salem Police Department respond.
Initial investigation into this case led detectives to identify the husband of the deceased female, who is also the father of the deceased children, as a person of interest. Around 11:00am Tuesday, a male was located deceased in a vehicle in the Cottage Grove area. This vehicle is associated with the person of interest in this case, and at this time investigators believe this to be a domestic related murder-suicide situation.
