A 28-year-old woman was shot and killed Friday in her Dearborn home after an apparent domestic dispute, according to a Dearborn Police Department press release.
Dearborn police responded to a 911 call from a home on the 1600 block of Highview Street at around 1 p.m. today, the statement said. Officers discovered upon arrival that the female resident of the house had been shot.
The responding officers took a 27-year-old male resident of the house into custody, police said. The wounded woman was then transported to Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
WDIV reports that the couple’s three-month-old child was also inside the house at the time of the shooting, but Dearborn police have yet to confirm those reports.
Dearborn police are withholding release of the names of those involved pending notification of their respective families.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?

Whenever I read about a woman's death in Dearborn, MI, especially a suicide, I think "Honor Killings."
