A domestic violence call ended tragically for a Tucson family, after police said they were forced to shoot an "aggressive" man, on Thursday night.
Tucson police responded to the apartment in the 2200 block of Elaine Boulevard at about 6:40 PM, after several neighbors and witnesses called 911, saying a family fight was getting out of control.
Police spokesman Sgt. Matt Ronstadt said several neighbors actually tried to jump in the fight, to try and stop it.
An 11-year old boy ran out and tried to get help from neighbors. It is unclear whether he witnessed the shooting.
Ronstadt said when the initial officer got on scene, the 30-year old suspect started advancing toward him in an aggressive manner, with a knife.
Ronstadt said the officer shot the man at least one. The suspect was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The police department's Internal Affairs division was called out to the scene, to take over the investigation.
The officer will be placed on administrative leave for a few days, while the case is under review.

(NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
