GREENVILLE, S.C. --
A man has been convicted on a lesser charge in the shooting death of a woman in South Carolina more than two years ago.
The Greenville News reported that Brian Sturgeon was convicted in Greenville on Tuesday of voluntary manslaughter, kidnapping and assault and battery with intent to kill.
Prosecutors say Sturgeon shot 25-year-old Jandie Finley in December, 2007, and dumped her body in Pickens County. Finley's boyfriend, Skip Hembree, was wounded in the attack and testified against Sturgeon.

Sturgeon had been charged with murder but the Greenville County jury chose voluntary manslaughter instead.
Sturgeon was sentenced to 45 years in prison.
Prosecutors say Sturgeon and Hembree had argued over the use of a rental car before the shootings.
A compilation of daily news articles from around the United States about deaths (including both people and animals) that appear to occur in the context of a past or present intimate relationship, focusing on 2009-present. (NOTE: this blog is limited to incidents that appear in the media and are captured by our search terms. We recognize this is not an exhaustive portrayal of all deaths resulting from intimate violence.) When is society going to realize intimate violence makes victims of us all?
